You will be required to choose one
or more correct answers from the several answers offered to
you and you will have 40 minutes to complete the test. You
do not need to pass your theory test before you start taking
driving lessons. Most learners study for their theory test
whilst they are having lessons with a driving instructor.
When you sit your theory test you will have to present
your provisional licence. The topics covered on the theory
test include hazard perception and awareness, attitude and
alertness, vehicle safety and handling as well as the rules
of the road, motorways and road and traffic signs. Tests are
conducted Monday to Saturday both during the day and in the
evenings. The result will be available within an hour of the
test being completed but if you fail you must wait three
days before you can sit it again.
Candidates with dyslexia or other reading
difficulties will be able to listen to the test being read
to them through headsets. Candidates can take the test in:
Welsh, Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Gujerati, Punjabi, Urdu,
Turkish, Arabic, Tamil, Portuguese, Fari, Albanian, Spanish
and Kurdish.
